| Description of the Krishal DivideLocation- Spoiler:
The Krishal Divide is the large body of water to the East of New Szadin, opposite the Kaigain Mountains. The Waters of the Krishal Divide- Spoiler:
Szadin itself could possibly be made into a port, if only the hosts were less into the art of Necromancy. The necromancy magic of the Szadin Empire have long since scared off most sailing vessels and merchant ships. Aside from this, the Krishal Divide harbors pirates, which prey on any sailing vessel attempting to reach the Empire or the Capital city below.
In effect to the practice of necromancy, in the Great War issued you Szadek, necrosoldiers were continuously created and if they were not up to standards they were disposed off in the Krishal Divide since the necromancers did not have the time needed to dissemble them due to the war. Therefore, after many years, the waters of the Krishal became black as coal. The blackening water was due to the fact, as the rotting flesh decomposed, the magic used to create it had no place to go so it began to affect things around it. Before the great war the Krishal Divide was as clear and beautiful as any other sea, but now the black waters can only be navigated by the creatures that it mutated. The creatures, because of the mutations, are very poisonous, very few are not poisonous even though the poison of some fish is used in medicines and assassinations. Creatures of the Krishal Divide- Spoiler:
Look in the Demographic Thread of the Szadin Empire The Pyrate Isles- Spoiler:
With in the Krishal Divide lies four islands, each as big, if not bigger, than New Szadin. The four islands are Nague, Calhian, Skhuls, and Barbose. Nague and Barbose are the outside islands of the four, Nague and Barbose as also the only islands settled by pirates. The island of Calhian, resting beside Nague, is a fierce jungle in habited by the Calhainian Tribe, vicious monsters, and annoying insects. The island neighboring Calhian is Skhulls. On this island it is rumored that a horrible monster lives, a monster so terrifying and ferocious that it is said to be inviolable. This monster is also thought to be worshiped by the Calhainians because they sacrifice two of their own to it twice a year. There is also a fifth island, uncharted and hardly known. Many who have tried to approach it have been killed the by treacherous waters that surround it, as if some unknown force is protecting it from unfriendly eyes. InhabitantsDescription- Spoiler:
On the island of Calhain lives a vicious, cannibalistic(human eating) tribe called the Calhainians. In this tribe males are dominate even though the females out number them tree to one. That is why only females are sacrificed to the Skhulls Island Creature during the Winter and Summer Solstice festivals. They are basically a bunch of two legged fish who have immortal beauty that is said to hypnotize sailors and can breath underwater. Calhainians are born with two set of eye lids, one for normal use and the other set enabling them to see in the dark, watery abyss known as the Krishal Divide. Females are gifted with a beautiful, eerie voice said to embody the many voices that the sea posses. This voice is also rumored to control the minor beings that live within the Krishal Divide and able to lure a sailor to his death. Calhainians don't grow very tall, the average male height being that of 5'6 and the average female being that of 5'0. Apperance:(Young Female Calhainian) Social Structure- Spoiler:
In the Calhainian tribe males are very sparse, and since males are the soul providers of the tribe, the gods of the Krishal Divide saw fit to give their children the secrete to their magic of transformation. While this little bit of magic is not complete and both male and female are excellent swimmers, it does what it was intended to do in order to give males an upper hand in the hunt. Thus, each male born is baptized in the black waters of the Divide, then, while the baby is only hours old, with a intricate mixture of herbs and Krishal water, the new born is tattooed over the heart with their family symbol. As the male grows older and begins it's right of passage into adult, the elders give each boy a unique tattoo, while continuously chanting the Prayer of the Gods, creating beautiful designs on the lower back, consisting of dots, lines, and swirls, that flow over the bum to incase the legs in it's magic bindings. Hours after the tattoo is given, the design on the legs fade until the male submerges himself in the Krishal Waters, and only the Krishal Waters, where the binding magic of the tattoo will activate and tying together the legs to form a tail fin. This tail fin grants them the grace and speed, in the water, to hunt like a true predator. Unfortunately, the male is not considered an adult until he has successfully completed his first hunt.
Once a male has brought home his first kill, the elders grant him a mate of elders’ choosing. Normal Calhainian males are allowed more than one mate, up to five. These mates are of their choosing, but only after being bound to their First Mate may they pick another. The first born male offspring of the male and his first mate is expected to carry on the family crest, however, if the first mate fails to provide a son by the end of her baring age, then the head male is allowed to pick any of his male offspring. If none of the head male's mates produce a boy then the head male may choose any boy to take his place as long as the chosen one bares the family crest. The first born daughter of the first mate and head male is sent off at the age of three summers to join the Teitum, a group of first born daughters in training to one day become and first mate themselves.
Females of the Calhainian tribe have many freedoms except owning land until they have been wed and that they must not differ from their mate's opinions. A First Mate soul purpose is to bare their husband's first son, thus, they are more revered than the other mates of the head male. First Mates spend most of their life preparing themselves to bare their mate's first child. So, because of this, the house hold chores and intensive labor falls to the other mates of the head male as to ensure that the First Mate's female reproductive performance is kept in it's prime for as long as possible. These duties can even some times protect the home from any attacker if the males are not present, sometimes sacrificing their own lives just to protect the First Mate, which is law.
Females' mates are chosen by either the elders or their families, so most of the time a female is given to the male with the highest nobility and highest payment. This is to ensure that the female is going into a rich home where she will be well taken care of.
In the tribe of the Calhainians there is one family that lives above the rest. This family is known as the Obooe, or First Family. This family consists of the Chief and his many wives(he is allowed a limitless number) and his offspring. The most valuable of his offspring are those that are produced from his First Mate who is hand chosen by him. His First Mate is to be the best of the Teitum and the most beautiful. So when a new chief comes into the power the elderly women of the Teitum( the teachers) gather up four of their best females and parade them in for the Chief’s viewing. When has a selected one, a one week marriage ceremony begins.
In this tribe almost anything goes if you are a male, with the exception of hitting or harming in any fashion your first mate, but if you are a female you are watched with an unwavering eye. If a female goes against your mate's opinion publicly, the female is taken and drowned by wrapping a chain around the gills, positioned at the throat; at the end of the chain is a heavy stone which weighs the female down in the water. The female's body is left there to be feasted upon by any creator who desires. However, that does not compare to what happens if the female has a child that does not belong to her mate. If this is to happen, the female and the baby are taken away to sit in a cage deep in the middle of the Calhain jungle until the baby is born. Then the tribal members come for the sinning female to offer her to the Skhulls Creature. Thankfully, this rarely happens.
